Beyond Structural Engineering Pty Ltd is a structural engineering consultancy based in Perth, Western Australia. We provide structural engineering services for residential and commercial projects, including design, assessment, documentation and inspection work.

We do not collect sensitive information (as defined in the Privacy Act) unless it is reasonably necessary for our functions and you have consented, or an exception under the Australian Privacy Principles applies.

We collect, hold, use and disclose personal information where it is reasonably necessary for, or directly related to, our business functions, including to:

• Respond to your enquiries and provide quotations;
• Deliver structural engineering services, including design, documentation, certification and inspections;
• Manage our engagements, projects, records and invoicing;
• Communicate with you, your other consultants and relevant authorities about a project;
• Comply with our legal, professional and regulatory obligations.

If we collect personal information about you from you, we will take reasonable steps to notify you of this policy and the purposes for which we collect the information, at or around the time of collection.

5. Disclosure of personal information (APP 6)

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose personal information:

• To other parties involved in your project, where reasonably necessary (for example, your builder, architect, certifier, surveyor or local government authority);
• To professional advisers who support our business, such as our accountants, auditors or insurers, under confidentiality obligations;
• Where required or authorised by law, including by a regulator, court or tribunal;
• With your consent, or where you would reasonably expect the disclosure.

6. Direct marketing (APP 7)

We do not send promotional or marketing communications by default. If we ever contact you with information about our services and you have not clearly consented, the contact will be within the permitted circumstances under APP 7, and every such communication will include a simple way to opt out. You may opt out of receiving any marketing communication from us at any time by emailing ceo@beyondstructuralengineering.site.

7. Cookies and website analytics

When you visit this website, we may collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed and the date and time of your visit. This information is used to administer the website, improve its performance and understand how visitors use it. Where this information identifies you, it is handled in accordance with this policy. These steps include access controls, secure storage of project files and appropriate disposal practices. When personal information is no longer needed and we are not required to retain it by law, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

Please note that no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information sent to us online.

9. Access and correction (APP 12, APP 13)

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and request correction of any information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. We will generally provide access free of charge, although a reasonable fee may apply where the request is complex or voluminous.

10. Cross-border disclosure

We aim to store personal information within Australia. If, in future, we use a service provider that hosts data outside Australia, we will take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles the information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles, and we will update this policy accordingly.

Please include enough detail for us to identify your concern. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
